Keeping Your Focus This Summer

Keeping Your Focus This Summer

Warm weather is finally here and summer is just around the corner. We're looking forward to cookouts and a break from the grind of the school year. Summer often means slowing down and reenergizing from the craziness of a more structured schedule.

Many Life Groups also slow down over these months. We meet a few less times and focus on connecting through social events and fun summer activities. We look forward to a slower pace and time to recharge.

I absolutely love the Life Group Christa and I are a part of and am so grateful for Pastor David's counsel for enjoying the summer together. Pastor Matthew

As believers in Christ, we know that true, lasting energy does not come from ourselves. We cannot muster this up on our own in order to be who God has called us to be. In 2 Corinthians 1, the Lord told Peter that His grace is sufficient for our weakness. If we were able to do things on our own, we would not need the Holy Spirit, the Helper. So how do we keep our focus on where our true and lasting energy comes from?

    4 TIPS FOR YOUR SUMMER

    1. Holy Spirit

Remember that doing things in your flesh never works out well long-term. Only through dependence on the Holy Spirit do we receive what we truly need each day.

    2. Pray

Talk to God about everything. Tell Him when you are tired and when you are excited. As you look at your calendar, pray over it. When you see your neighbors, pray. Pray as you go for an evening walk. Pray without ceasing. (See 1 Thessalonians 5:18.)

    3. Celebrate

It’s so easy to run full steam ahead into summer without taking time to look back and celebrate what the Lord has done. The Israelites were often commanded to set up stones of remembrance and share memories with their children. Have you taken a moment to celebrate what God has done? Pause, reflect and celebrate.

    4. Story

God deserves the praise and glory. The Holy Spirit may even use your stories to help energize others.

But they have conquered Him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, for they did not cling to life even in the face of death.
    Revelation 12:11
