An update and request for my grandbaby, son and daughter-in-law. The baby, a tiny girl, 25 weeks gestational age, has Congenital Bilateral Renal Agenesis—no kidneys. It has historically been incompatible with life, most babies with CBRA are stillborn or die within hours of birth as they are unable to breathe due to lack of lung development, for which kidneys play a key role.
However, in recent years, amniofusion for the mother hav given some babies a chance at life. While the risk for death is still far higher than the risk for life, the treatment gives the babies’ lungs a chance to develop properly and give the child a chance at life.
My daughter-in-law started the treatments 4 weeks ago. She and my son had to move from their home to another state For her to get the amniofusions and will have to move again soon to be at a hospital that can treat the baby with a special type of dialysis while she awaits a kidney transplant.
Sorry for all the details, but, as you can tell, this is a precarious situation for my kids and granddaughter. There are so many details to pray over. The baby’s health, my daughter-in-law’s safety, their jobs and schooling (both doing remote work and schooling, which helps), housing, finances, etc.
Please hold this in your prayers.
