Emanuela has the peritoneal dialysis catheter placed yesterday morning. She has been doing fairly well considering, but this evening her potassium levels are creeping up. They had hoped to hold off dialysis to give her time to heal from surgery, but it needs to be started this evening. Please prayer her little body withstands the dialysis and thrives.
Emanuela has arrived! Weighing 2 lbs 7 oz and Praise the Lord! Breathing on her own! The whole ventilation team was there ready to resuscitate her and she surprised them all by being able to breathe on her own. Breath was the first hurdle God healed for her. Now Emanuela needs prayers for her body to accept peritoneal dialysis. She is the smallest baby the UMN/Amplatz has had for doing this type of dialysis and since she has no kidneys, it’s imperative they can do it right. So, pray for Emanuela’s next battle to be won with as much amazing results as the battle to breathe. Thank you! Your prayers are our blessings.
My daughter-in-law is having an emergency c-section any time now. The baby is in dire need of prayer. She is 32 weeks gestation, but is very small for gestational age and has a critical health condition. Please pray God touches her with healing for her lungs so she can get the help she needs to thrive. Please pray God empowers her body to accept the necessary interventions to sustain her life. Please pray her dear mother, who has worked so very hard to help her survive, handles the surgery well and is strong and is surrounded by the love of God. Please pray for my son as he advocates for his wife and daughter. Please ask the Father to give them all the peace that passes understanding, comforts them in their fears and worries and empowers their advocacy for their daughter. Emanuela, the baby, is a God has created. She is loved and valued and needs your prayers.
God is surely a way maker and I believe humbly that trouble don't last always. My prayer request is that I'm able to find employment suitable to fit my families needs and that we stay in good health and I'm able to catch up of my extremely delinquent bills.
Following up on my prayer request from yesterday. Ezra got Rebekah to Amplatz safely. Rebekah and the baby, Emanuela (aka EmyG), are being observed now. They will be moved to the antepartum ward later today. Sadly, at that time Ezra will be required, due to COVID restrictions, to leave the hospital and will not allowed into the hospital again until Rebekah goes into labor. That’s very distressing for Rebekah. Please pray for strength from Our Father to help her endure this new hardship that’s been added to all the other hardships surrounding the pregnancy. The plan as of last night was to continue to monitor Emanuela’s development to allow her time to grow. She is 32 weeks gestation. They would like to get her at least to 34 weeks and if if she thrives, maybe even longer than that. Rebekah is no longer able to have the amniofusions. So Emanuela will no longer be in an optimal environment for her lung development. They are hopeful her lungs have developed sufficiently and will not regress while she struggles to reach a safe weight that will empower successful dialysis once she has made her debut. We need your prayers over every aspect of this situation. Please know you are appreciated by every one of us.
Please pray for my daughter-in-law, Rebekah and my granddaughter, Emanuela, as well as my son, Ezra. Rebekah is 32 weeks pregnant with Emy and going through intensive treatments for the baby has no kidneys. Rebekah had complications in the night last night. She was in Omaha for treatments and is being sent to UMN/Amplatz. They were supposed to travel by ambulance but that fell through due to insurance. So she was given anti-labor meds and my son is driving her up here as I write. They about half way here. She will be admitted to bed rest and they will try to hold off labor as long as possible. Please pray for the baby’s lungs to be matured (a big risk for babies with no kidneys). Please pray for continued safe travels. Please pray the baby is big enough to receive the special dialysis she needs, which why they have to deliver her at Amplatz. Trying to keep this succinct, but in a nutshell, this is a very dangerous situation for Emanuela and for Rebekah.
