Get a Life Group

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the average American moves 11.7 times in a lifetime. Each move brings new homes, neighbors and coworkers. It changes the dynamics of relationships. Our family relocated back to Minnesota just over a year ago and it’s been a blessing to be welcomed into the New Hope Church family. Part of that welcome has involved Life Groups.

Our society is relationally-fractured with family members scattered around the country due to jobs and other changing dynamics. These realities often leave people starved for community, searching for connection and community.

Community can be viewed as “common unity.” At New Hope Church that unity is in Christ, where we are a “Christ-centered community of all peoples, moving toward Jesus and taking others with us.” As Pastor Matthew says, “Life Groups are the backbone of our church.” So, within these groups, how do we move toward Jesus and take others with us? Here are three ways:

    1. CELEBRATE Jesus by loving like Him. We grow together through worship, prayer, Bible Study and real application of God’s Word.

    2. CONNECT with people by strengthening one another in Jesus. Hebrews 10:24 says, “And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works.” Life Groups give us a place t belong by building intimate relationships through caring, serving and being accountable to each other. Practically, that can mean attending church events and serving together.

    3. CONTRIBUTE to our world by introducing people to Jesus. Together, we reach the lost by contributing time, talents and resources for the glory of God. Through Community Outreach and other ministries, we join in being the hands and feet of Jesus. We have the great privilege of pointing people to Him, the one who promised never to leave or forsake us. The good news is that means wherever we live, He is with us!

Consider stepping out and facilitating a Life Group. Invite friends to dive into some great discussion that paves the way toward deeper relationships with Jesus and others.

Pastor David Myles is Life Groups director at New Hope Church. "I love serving the church because of the incredible love of Christ in the gospel. It’s a deep joy to see transformation in the lives of people and to help them grow in Christ."
